A.P.E.- A Perception Experiment by Craig Petty

“What I love about this trick is that the audience are lead down an innocent garden path and then sucker punched off the edge of a cliff! It’s engaging, different and funny with an out of left field kicker that people love”
 Lloyd Barnes

“I was lucky enough to pick one up at Magic Live and I absolutely love performing it! Apart from the fact I feel Craig should have shaved for the trailer I give it 100%!”
 Peter Nardi

“A.P.E. is a real trip! Craig has recreated the famous viral video of the invisible gorilla experiment – as a packet trick. It’s funny, fooling and hugely entertaining. Your audience will go bananas! (Sorry, not sorry.)”
 Mark Elsdon

Have you seen the “Selected Attention Test” video on YouTube? The video asks you to count the number of passes in a short demonstration. It’s tricky, since there are multiple people passing at the same time. But the really tricky part is, while you’re focusing on the basketballs, you miss the gorilla walking past!

A.P.E takes this intriguing premise and applies it to magic. You take out three cards, each with a number of basketballs on it, and ask your participants to count the number of basketballs. After showing the front and back, you ask for the number. Whether they get it right or not isn’t the point. Did they spot the gorilla? You reveal that now, printed across all three cards is a huge gorilla!

This quick packet trick makes for a perfect opener and is great for strolling, close-up, or even casual performances with friends. Included is a vegan leather carrying case, the cards designed by Phil Smith, and a full video tutorial.

You may have missed the gorilla, but don’t miss out on A.P.E!
