Quentin Metenier & Markobi

There was no reason for this project to be born, and that is precisely why it was born.

Quentin Metenier and Markobi met back in the day, in Strasbourg (still their current city in 2026), during a drunken evening at one of Marco’s exes’ place (true story), around 2016. What followed were 1,001 moments: improvised evenings, coffees, entrepreneurial aperitifs, bars, jams, restaurants, trips, gigs together, even to the point of once being sequestered during a performance (true story as well).

They evolved in parallel, but each on their own path, cutting their teeth and growing together in the world of professional magic, clients, publishing, everything and nothing, with different styles, but sometimes shared intellectual and stylistic points of agreement, with contrasting and evolving approaches. They are both emblematic figures of magic in Strasbourg, and regularly recommend each other professionally.

Marco has gone his own way, with already 4 projects with Philippe Molina along the journey, and Quentin has developed several lines of work, among them a powerful informal magic, and an efficient, strong mentalism at its core. Both published a book this year, including Quentin’s first book, Du sang bleu et des étoiles. And Quentin wrote the foreword to Markobi’s How to Make Teller Laugh.

Here, this project stands at a paradoxical crossroads: neither the heart of Quentin’s work, nor the heart of Marco’s work: card routines, knowing that these are not the ones Marco performs, and that Quentin no longer performs card magic in professional gigs.

They will come together here to discuss, on one hand, routines that Marco did indeed create for the project, with reflection, paths, methods and the way of thinking magic at the core, more than the routines themselves; and on the other hand, the ones Quentin brought in: some of his professional gems (when he decides to take out the cards), and a few little jewels from social media, real life, or born from chance.

In short, for both of them, the heart of the project will be the discussion, and the questions and answers given.
